Sensei Jim Webb has studied and practiced the martial arts for over 50 years.
Dr. Webb started his study and practice of Kodokan Judo in 1966. He has since achieved the rank of Hachidan (8th degree black belt) in both Judo and Jiu Jitsu. He was awarded the rank of Nidan (second degree black belt) in Shotokan Karate.
As a competitor, he won Judo national championships as a junior, high school student, and college student. He won the State Championship of four different States: Texas, Arizona, Indiana, and North Carolina. He also competed extensively internationally. He won the United States National Master’s Championship three times.
Dr. Webb served his country as a Special Forces Officer. When not deployed, he taught Jiu Jitsu style combatives to such organizations as West Point, the Army Ranger Battalion, and the 7th and 12th Special Forces Groups. Upon leaving the military, he continued his study of Heike-Ryu Jiu Jitsu and Kodokan Judo under the tutelage of Vince Tamura. He has since successfully graduated from the Kodokan Kata Course and Kodokan Technique Course in Japan. He is also been certified by the International Judo Federation as an international coach and international referee.
As a leader, Dr. Webb served as the President of the United States Judo Association and is currently on the Board of Directors of the US Olympic Committee National Governing Body for Judo: USA Judo. He also currently serves on the Board of Directors of the United States Ju Jitsu Federation.
